Larry - I had the same experience with the same type of tap on my 62 4000 a few months ago. In my case, the thing didn't leak to the outside world - it just didn't shut all the way off. And it's a miserable job to re-do! There's no quality control with these parts today. I did a rebuild on my TSX 769 carb and found that the new throttle shaft was machined wrong and held the throttle plate crooked enough that it jammed in the bore. - I had to put the old one back in which worked fine. I guess that's just the way things are. But I hate to waste time and money!- Will
