The five speed transmission has a weak point design flaw in the third and reverse gears. Before you buy it make sure it doesn't jump out of either of these gears. Hold the brakes hard while full throttle in third gear for a few hundred feet to be sure it stays in gear without you having to hold the gear shift lever. Then find a big hill and let it roll down hill while in third gear to be sure it doesn't jump out of gear while holding back. If it passes these two tessts it's probably OK. At least for a time. If there is enough hours on the tractor it will eventually have the problem of jumping out of gear.
I did my time in a Ford dealership and fixed many of these transmission for just this problem. Matter of fact I own one that cost me dearly to fix the same problem when I pulled it out of a junk pile.

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
