Back in early spring I had posted that I needed to split my 4000 to investigate a clutch/input shaft problem It turned out both need to be replaced. I want to thank all who responded with excellent information. Especially about tilting the trans/differentall up and removing the input shaft verticually. It worked like a charm! I stopped at the local Ford dealer to price what I needed. The input shaft, with the sealing rings was $1400.00. The clutch disc with the hub was $360.00. I thought maybe the shaft would have been half that much. Anyway, are there any other places to look beside the Ford dealer? As soon as I heard the price, I started to run possable repair ideas through my head. Has anyone tried to repair one? I always look at ways of repairing instead of buying new if at all possable. Thanks for your help.
