I used to think the same thing. The information sources I had read seemed to indicate that any x20 had a 4 speed and no 3ph or pto. However, the Ford owner manual seems to indicat the 820 had a 5 speed and the 620 had a 4 speed. When you move up to the 601/801 manual it shows the 821 with a 5 speed as standard equipment but a 4 speed as optional. I was going to ask you if your tractor had the Powermaster decals. I've heard from others with late '57 800's that got factory Powermaster decals. I guess it was pretty common practice during that changeover period.
