Yes, it is a late '57 probably pretty close to the changeover to the 8X1. In fact when I scraped down to the original paint it had a factory Powermaster logo and Model 840 on the sheetmetal. The sheetmetal including grill and so forth is 800 series, it doesn't have any of the 8X1 styling changes. When I first got the tractor my NH dealer looked up the serial number in about 2 seconds and said it was a '57, apparently no ambiguity on their serial number reference. Anyway another thing when it comes to 800s and four-speed transmissions I believe the 820 tow tractor had the four-speed (no 3-point or PTO), please correct me if wrong.
