Same happened to me - You have a fuel line for the 6x1/8x1 series - not the post 1962 to 1964 thousand series. I'll bet it won't even fit your bowl or tank. Go back to FNH and insist that they look up the proper line. 99% of the parts from the 6x1 series fits the 4 cyl. 2000 perfectly, but you have found one of the 1% that does not. As for homemade - I thought about that too, but the line isn't just flared tubing - and it is AWFUL close to the exhaust manifold. Factory line made me feel much safer in the seat on a hot day.
