It's your tractor, paint it purple if you want! Sounds like you're wanting to do a bang up job and take it to shows, etc. Painting it yellow and then making a display card that explains that it was originally a Ky DOT tractor might be a nice touch....certainly stand out from the rest of the Fords at the show. As for which shade of yellow, try matching to what you have or ask the KY DOT if they have any spare paint. I'm curious, is the inside of the air cleaner oil cup yellow or red? Most repaint jobs don't get picky enough to pull the air cleaner apart for painting.
