'58 851 powermaster carb

I put new gaskets on my 851 powermaster because of an air leak due to an old gasket and the performance improved sinificantly....but as soon as I turned it off, gas was leaking from the choke butterfly bushing. I suspect I did not assemble the float correctly . Before it was not leaking but now it is...any ideas on the float? leaking gas in georgia... Dogman
