DAN, I SHOPPED 'TIL I DROPPED AND FINALLY ENDED UP PAYING $3,850 (1 MONTH AGO). MINE WAS IN RUNNING ORDER WITH A DECENT BODY (LITTLE RUST & DENTS. I HAVE HOWEVER HAD TO PUT SOME MONEY INTO IT AFTER THE FACT. NEW STEERING WHEEL, NEW RADIATOR HOSES, KEY SWITCH, ETC. THESE ARE MINOR THINGS BUT ONE MAJOR ISSUE (YOU'LL WANT TO LOOK AT THIS)I HAD WAS WITH THE REAR WHEEL HUB(S). THE HUBS ARE MOUNTED TO THE AXLE WITH A 2" NUT & CIRCLE SPRING. ONE OF MY WHEELS APPEARED LOOSE. AFTER INSPECTING IT I DISCOVERED THAT THE SPLINE END OF THE AXLE AND I.D. OF THE HUB WERE WORN TO THE POINT OF ALMOST FALLING OFF. I WAS ABLE TO BUY A NEW HUB ($85) AND REFURBISHED THE SPLINE TEETH ON THE AXLE BY RE-WELDING, GRINDING, FILING AND FITTING TO THE NEW HUB. AS FAR AS DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A GOLDEN AND JUST A JUBILEE, I THINK THEY ARE MINOR. I HAVE A '54 REPUTED TO BE A JUBILEE. MY BRO' INLAW HAS A '53 GOLDEN. FOR ALL INTENTS & PURPOSES THEY LOOK ALMOST IDENTICAL. DIFFERENCES BEING: THE '53 HAS A MARVEL SCHEBEL CARB; MINE HAS A ZENITH (MAYBE AFTERMARKET). MINE HAS A SOURCE FOR HYD. PRESSURE PORT UNDER THE SEAT ATOP THE CENTER HOUSING; THE '53 DOESN'T. BOTH ARE SERIALIZED AS AN "NAA". FOR SOME REASON THE '53 HAS LARGER REAR TIRES THAN MINE BUT THEY MAY HAVE BEEN ADDERS. IN SPITE OF THE 6 VOLT SYSTEM, MINE STARTS 1st HIT AND I'LL HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF CONVERTING UNLESS I HAVE TO. HAVIN' FUN!! STEVE

Madison's County - by Anthony West. Philip Madison has been a good friend of mine for quite some time. He has patiently suffered my incessant chit chat on the subject of tractors for longer than I care to remember, and on many occasions he has put himself out, dropped what ever it was he was doing, to come and lend a hand cranking handles, or loading a find onto a trailer. Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
