I'm in the process of putting my Continental Z134 back together. Had to do a quick rebuild after I found an oil pan full of coolant.
Two questions.
First: about the rear main cap that also attaches to the rear main seal housing. Book says to simply remove those two little 1/4" bolts. In my case, not so easy. There are bolts and nuts and there was no good way to hold the bolt heads by the flywheel, while trying to get the nuts off at the main cap. I finally cut them off, and then made special bolts with screw-driver slots that I could hold with a right-angle screwdriver. Seems this can't be how this thing was originally?
Second: Exhaust valves. Just redid my cylinder head. Put in new guides, springs, ground the seats, refaced the intake valves and put in all new exhaust valves (old ones getting kind of thin to reface). Bought the new valves here on this Website. Well, I didn't notice until I went to install the rocker-arms, that these new exhaust valves are NOT drilled to accept the wear-caps that are supposed to go on top (where the rocker hits them). Seems these new valves are made a bit higher and made to be used with no caps. But, there was no mention of the change that came with the valves. Anybody know about this?
