But I did find "1 7 3" embossed on the block above the generator mount, which I'm tipping is the casting date of 1 July 1953, seeing as my diff housing is dated "6 7 3" (6 July 1953) and I know the tractor production date is 10 July 1953!

It stands out. It is below the the manifolds. If you have to look then you don't have one. The "K" is about 30-40mm and in clear view not hidden behind anything. There are other smaller numbers below it.
