The first time I saw an Allis WC, with the huge plate screwed to the side of the block, and asked the owner about the 'damage'...and he told me they were all built that way. So, when you think about it.... all the side of the block does it keep the oil from pouring out? A bit of tension and torque on most tractors, but if it's just a hole... cover the hole.... works for me! My concern would be the thrashing the crank and bearing seats in the lower block when all that slamming was going on... calls for a close inspection down there. 'Before' you buy that gallon can of JB weld...
