Onm the bottom of the carby is a fitting. Remove fitting. Install brass nipple adapter going to a clear hose open at far end. Hold open end of hose above carb base. Turn on gas. Gas will flow into the bhose and show you the same level as found inside the carby float chamber. Viton rubber needle seat should also help your drippy problem
