Change the filter every other oil change, if you don't know when the oil filter was last changed then change it and then you will know for sure. The oil should be changed every 150 hours. Take a note how it all assembles, Jason has sent a picture for you to follow. Make sure that the "O" rings and felt seals are in good order, fit new ones if necessary, don't take any chances. It is a paper type filter with a wire mesh internally and the whole thing is in a perforated steel can. The filter should be an inside to outside filter or it will not clean the oil properly.
