All I do is buy 4 or 5 squirt bottles of toilet bowl cleaner. I then pour all of it into a plastic container. Then I submerge the disassembled carb halves in the acid. You will see it start to bubble in a few minutes and after about 15 mins I pull them out and check them. Depending on how bad it is it may need a longer soak. After it is clean enough i rinse it really well with water. Then I wash it again with a degreaser and rinse and then I spray it with a little wd40 to prevent flash rust. The pics below are as it was before and then what it looked like after 15 mins in the acid and a rinse. It had no scraping or wire brushing done to it in the pics. That's straight out of the acid and a rinse.
