Don't even think about wasting time and money fitting only rings to this engine (23C) You should fit Sleeves and Pistons, Have the Injectors serviced as the hoes tend to block and the cold start suffers. Grind-in the valves, replace the Timing chain tensioner. To improve the starting, it can be improved by opening up the hole in the Head to the combustion chambers. The Fuel Injection Pump timing will need checking as the drive gears wear and alters the timing, this does need to be correct When you carry out most of this work you don't touch the Injection Timing at all, it is only when you come to set the Pump timing and you can do that or leave it and do it later, but don't expect miracle cures unless you do everything listed..John(UK)...fergusontractors@hotmail.com
