All our threads and sizes are now metric as you thought. Possible reason that HF used unified threads was that he was used to them from manufacturing in the US before he moved to manufacturing to the UK. The Engine was not made by Ferguson, it was made by Standard Motors who also made the tractors for Ferguson. It was developed in conjunction with Continental who would have unified threads, so maybe that is the connection. But we did use a lot of unified threads and the older styles whitworth and BSF etc were being phased out anyway..John(UK)...fergusontractors@hotmail.com
