Guess 4500 hrs is not enough yet to tell since i went thru that tractor from the radiator to the PTO back 89 and it has been the main H/P for all the heavy work since . Does all the moldboard plowing discing and now the deep ripping an chopping . The only repairs made to it has been a couple lite switches new park loc linkage a couple new seats and a new set of tires . Still on the same clutch and T/A that i put in it back then oh and we had to redo the injection pump this year because of a governor issue in the pump . oh and set of brakes. So when the day comes that the pin falls out and she pukes her guts out it will not ow us a thing. That tractor was bought buy a close jocky friend of mine at a sale one day that i could not make as i was going to a larger sale and i told him to try and get the 1066 and the 966 that was at that sale . He got me the 1066 but not the 966 am i bought two semi loads out of the other sale . He hauled the 1066 to Tri Green's sale where i picked it up and paid him . Lets just say that it was not one of my better buy's . When i got it home i started checking it over and it needed everything. a guy came in and wanted to buy it and i was straight forward about it and told him that it was almost junk. The T/A was out the ft.end was wore out third gear was noisy it needed painted but it did run ok.and it was gone. A year later Eugene comes dragging this THINK home and says you can fix this. Well we did FIX it and i do believe that i had Every nut and bolt out of that tractor from ft. to back top to bottom . If any part was questionable it was replaced . We have all older equipment and like most of the local farmers we keep the old going.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract. ... [Read Article]
