Bud: The paper pulleys were the delux pulley of the day. They are much more effective for non sliping. That is reason when you go to a threshing day, the old steamers needed that big steel pulley for traction as well as speed. This is why the pulley on H, M and W series tractors went to paper, traction on the belt without going to a large pulley. You never see a paper pulley on an A, SA, C or SC. It's clearly a case of putting hp on the belt. Don't you worry either AC, MH, JD, etc. all had them if the guy was doing enough belt work.
