I put well over 10,000 hours on each of my 560, 656 and 1066 and they were shifted hundreds of times per day on the go. In working gears one will never hurt them. I do believe one should adjust the throttle to compensate fot the shift in road gears, both up and down. In total close to 75,000 hours on 5 TA equipped tractors and only one TA replaced under 10,000 hours, and that was the first one being a 300. We try to learn from our mistakes, and not blame them on the tractor. By the way, I also got 13,000 hours out of a Deere Power Shift, and there were folks that called those junk. Same principle applied, adjust that throttle to compensate for change in road gears. Once you get over 10 mph, it's the same principle as a truck, eliminate the shock load when shifting.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
