Maybe mine works differently, I have a 480E. It has the solenoid on the forward reverse shifter. I still never use it.There is a button on the floor and another one on the hyd lever. One thing about a 480 is with the same hyd pump and engine, the hyd is really fast. If they can dig it they are faster than almost anything. Same with the loader. moving cold patch away from a blender, my little 480 will lap a 580M. Shame they don"t make them anymore. Also you can haul them legal on a 15000 lb. trailer and a single wheel pickup. They just weight 10000 lb. and Newer 580 M"s weight 16000 plus.
