Basically the D6B (44A) is the same as the 9U series except the motor changed to a D333 which was not one of Cats better engines. Prone to cracking heads, blocks and spun bearings. It is not an engine that will accomodate high hours. Weren't that many made (6,856 44a's)
If it checks out initially it will probably do fine for your limited use. Close to scrap value is about right unless it has some bonus items.
