Your JCB should have a volt meter fitted and that should read over 14Vs after start up,the alternator needs to be excited to set it charging so check to see that the red light in the dash shows when you turn the key on,if not check the bulb,if thats ok pull the plug off the back of the alternator and ground the wire that goes on the small terminal, with the key on the red battery light should be lit,if it is then there is a problem in the alternator, your starting problem sounds to me like your battery is no good as you state each time you started it you were using jumper cables, make sure the battery is good and as in the other man"s reply that all the connections are good, all JCB have an intermittance switch on the starter circuit, make sure the connections are good on the switch. Good luck AJ
