I am concern that if you do not have enough mechanical acumen to not know the difference between a 2 stroke Detroit diesel and the 4 stroke Allis engine that you may be in away over your head in trying to assess the condition of an old crawler tractor. There are so many components other than the engine that can be a major money pit on an old crawler that you would be foolish not take an experience crawler mechanic with you to check it over.
