See previous question about gas cap. The two holes in the top of the gas cap were plugged. I drilled them out with a tiny drill bit. I put the grader blade on and worked for a while far away from the barn and she ran great. OK, here's the question, if there is pressure in the gas tank why doesn't the gas get pushed to the carburetor? Is it something like putting your finger on the end of a straw in a glass and the water doesn't run out? I know this probably sounds dumb, I went to college but I didn't major in fiziks or hydraulics. Thanks, Ellis
 
No pressure but a vaccum. Gas flows on gravity from tank. Holes plugged caused no pressure in tank slowing down fuel flow to carb...fill a straw and nothing comes out unless you allow air in on both sides..
 
You only build pressure from expansion of the gasses in tank. Not likely to build pressure when engine is running because you would be taking more fuel from tank than the expansion process. Now, sitting in the sun, not running is a whole different ball game. Some gasoline engines with the tank half way over the engine will actually build pressure in tank while running. When I was at Hickory Hills many years ago, they were running a 656 gasoline on a dynamometer and they ran a pipe out of the top of the gas cap outside to vent the fumes but that was mainly due to the expansion from heat that occurred immediately after shut down as tank was pretty warm (HOT).
 
Yes IH will send you warranty gas caps I just got 2 a couple of weeks ago they are taller then the originals I forget the web site address but it was mentioned on this site about 2 months ago you might find it in the arcives
