Sandblasting a truck bed

I need to clean up a 8x16' dumping stake body. Is sandblasting it myself something I should even consider?

The steel deck will be removed as it needs replaced. Not much paint on frame of the bed, just light rust.

I'd need a new compressor any way, would a 10-15 CFM unit be adequate, or would I just be causing myself more aggravation than it is worth.

If I was to pay to have it done, what should I expect to pay?

that's a $64 question,, getting a new compressor since you need one is o-k, but you need a lot of air to keep up with the demand to blast, a extra tank to build/keep pressure, would help, would new compressor make enough air for second tank also,,, do you have sand, hose and gun,,,, the cost, a good ?, quicker, safer, easier for them to do it, another ? you need to decide...

That would be a slow process. Probably take 10 to 12 hours to blast a truck bed. Sandblasting is basiclay an open air line, takes A LOT of compressor to keep up. Would also be tough on that compressor, it would run constantly.

I have a diesel 100cfm compressor with a 150lb media tank. Would take 2-3 hours to do a truck bed, enculding time to refill the media and then blasting time. Just thought it would provide some perspective.
