baling hay with super h

hi guys, I want to start baling hay next year with my 53 super h and I need some opinions on what size baler the tractor will handle. the motor runs good, it does loose 5-10lbs of oil pressure after it heats up to operating temp and it smokes little bit, I have driven and used a lot worse though. I believe the motor is getting tired but its not ready to give up yet. been looking at new Holland balers, 268-275 with kickers. any opinions are welcome, thanks.
 
I'd get a mid 50's John Deere baler with a Wisconsin engine on it. Unless you pull a trailer with 100 bales on it in soft ground, you can bale up a storm.
 
We baled with a super C and a Case 200 baler for years. It is a pain without a 2 stage clutch but had enough power to do the job. I would hate to think I had to go back to it, but we made do with what we had then.
 
Super H will pull about any baler out there just fine. we have been baling for 40+ years with a Super c. we have used New Holland, JD, IH Ford and AC balers.baled yesterday with the Super c and the AC443 BALER.EVEN HAD A 20 FOOT WAGON BEHIND THE BALER ON THE FLAT GROUND.
 
I think this tractor was used to bale hay before I picked it up. It has a m&w hand clutch which I finally got adjusted.
 
It doesn't take much power to run a baler. What takes power and weight is pulling a wagon load of bales, especially on hills.

If you're just dropping them on the ground and picking them up later, or stacking them on a small wagon on the flat, just buy a baler that's in good shape at a decent price.
 
My regular H always did fine on the baler. I had a MF #12 and added a New Holland kicker. A full wagon made her take notice, but she handled it just fine. Having the M&W hand clutch, you should be in great shape.
