Farmall F tractor (432DB)

This is the description of a tractor in an auction tomorrow. Is this what some people call a Duck Bill? I believe this tractor to be sitting outside and in very bad shape, because they have SCRAP DEALERS ENCOURAGED on the listing also. Would it be worth while for me to try and rescue it from the scrap haulers? And how much would I need to bid on it without overbidding its value? How much does it weigh?
Thank you
Steve

I can't id it by that, but scrap prices would prevail. Around here that is $220 a ton. Deduct about $100 for the tires and $200 for the hauling.
The DB often refers to the F20 or the F30 and they would weigh in at about 4 & 5000 lbs. No scrapper will pay more than he can get out of it.
$200 to $400 should buy it and if it doesn't don't bother.

without looking in the parts book ill gaurantee what the did was list a part number they found cast into a part. ive seen people do this lots of time thinking its a serial number or something. 99% of the parts on pre 39's end in a D DA DB DAX or DBX

have you got a link to the auction?

The scrappers here get crazy and often pay MORE than
scrap.some have "quotas" to fill...One such scrapper
buys semi loads of iron(good iron),hauls it directly
to the foundry 300+miles'Says he makes money...So
iffins you want it you simply gotta out bid
them,regardless of "value".Remember,they arent made
anymore.Once they're gone.they're GONE.

More often than not I see the scrappers paying WAY more than what it is worth. I don't care if they DO have a quota to fill, it just doesn't work out when they buy HIGH and sell LOW. Must be why most of them drive 40 year old, rusted out trucks and wear clothes that look like they found them at the landfill.

Many scrap yard want all the oil drained out and the F-20 has a lot of places that contain oil which is not always easy to get rid of.

Thank you everyone. I need some F-20 parts and I hope that, that is what it is. I guess I will not know until I get there. It is an Auction for L'Allier and is at WWW.teamauction4U.com
