I made a mistake. Last year my 450 had to sit outside for a while. Apparently it got rain water in it some how. Must of got in by the exhaust manifold threads. But any ways I got the water out and got it running. Not thinking of changing the oil cause of the water it got left in there. Now I had to move it. So I started it up and watch the oil pressure like I always do. Usually it takes a couple seconds to start to come up. It never did. I tried it again today and still didnt show any pressure. So I went and smacked the oil pan and it is rock solid. Didnt sound hollow at all. Pulled the drain plug and theres a bunch of ice. Thawing it now and going to change the oil. But i was wondering would it shear a roll pin or keyway on something if the oil pump is froze up. If I have to pull the pan I will do that before I dump oil in.

When you are ready to put the oil back in it, heat the oil first, and then let it sit for a while. Just in case you still have some ice in the pump screen. You definitely do not want to start it again without oil pressure. Maybe you should pull the spark plugs out and pull the tractor, to see if you have oil pressure before you try to run it.

WOW,Sounds like you must of had the exhaust wide open to get that much moisture in. Since it's water you're better off than if it was antifreeze. Take a heat lamp or shop light and shine it close to the oil pan. Pull the drain plug and let the oil dry. You will be surprised how well that heat lamp will warm the pan and melt the ice. Once that is done change oil and filter, run, check and see if oil turns milky you will want to change again. No oil pressure could mean you ice block in line. You must be a lucky one to have that much moisture in your area.

may as well pull the pan now and look at the rod brgs first. if they have damage then check the mains too.i am sure you have damage since you started it two times, and the brgs were dry from sitting.if it even ran 1 minute that is too long. I sure would not chance it to later throw a rod out the side of block. but of course it will be knocking first. did you have the exhaust pipe covered? as that's the biggest culprit.

should be fine if it didnt run long.. i would pull the valve cover and oil pan off and get all of the moisture and gunk out of the pan to make sure its clean..

Once you get the water and old oil out your probably going to be ok. The pick up for the oil pump is very low in the pan so it was sucking on ice which of course will not move so yep no oil pressure. So you stand a good chance that it will be ok as long as the engine did not run long enough to spin a rod or main bearing out of it
