Cranes Flying North

February 2 I and several others did see Cranes flying north here just south of the ATL. Either they were somewhat confused or the weather is going to get a little warmer soon. In any case I planted potatoes, sugar snaps, and some leaf lettice as well as a few heads of cabbage and fresh mustard greens.

I saw a crane today after getting in from chores and I couldn't believe it. But I have had a couple of morning doves in the yard the last couple of week too. Maybe that woodchuck was right, better git some veg's in the ground it's supposed to be in the mid 50's to mid 60's here all week. good luck with your garden.

University of Wisconsin Professor of Meterology and Oceanic Science told the Wisconsin State journal "There is a 50 /50 chance that it will be either warmer or colder than normal over the next six weeks."
Wonder what the annual salary is.

he real question is what was the dumb@$$ question that promped that answer.

(quoted from post at 17:09:58 02/05/13) My thoughts exactly.

What area are you in? I never thought of planting anything in the winter....
I'm in Connecticut. What could I plant in the veg garden now?

I am in the Atlanta area. We can grow some things here year round such as cabbage, kale and some other greens. My brother-in-law has sugar snaps sprouting. If we wait too long the sweet peas and potatoes will not produce due to extreme heat.

Many people seem to think of February as the middle of winter, but (at least here in PA) February is when it starts to feel like Spring. Days are getting noticeably longer, Sun has more heat. I"m trying to ignore the snow that"s coming down now though.

Yea Im not far from you in CT. No planting of anything for me in Feb, but the 3rd week of March is when the Carrots, cabbage, spinach and lettuce can go in.

you can plant just about anything anywhere as long as its in a green house here im hoping by the end of march my water line is thawed so i dont have to drag a hose from the house to water the steers
