It's not too bad. Probably an hour to change both.

Pull the shifter cover. Shift one side back, then pull the bolt out of the fork. Place a rag over the poppet ball hole in the top front of the case. Grab the rail with a vice grip pliers, and continue to slide the rail backwards into the rear of the case. The rag will prevent the poppet ball from launching across the room. Continue to slide the rail back until you can slip the fork off the end and out of the transmission. Repeat for the other side (if necessary).
Reinstall in reverse and when you get ready to slip the rail back into the front guide, ensure the spring is seated down in its holder, then place the poppet ball on top of the spring. With a long skinny punch, push down on the poppet ball as you slide the rail forward till it engages the detents. Reposition the fork and reinstall its bolt. Repeat for the other side (if necessary) and replace the shifter cover.
