2N No Spark

I have a 2N with 6 volt positive ground, distributor on the front, Pertronix EI. The other day it suddenly shut off. First I checked for obvious loose connections. Then I took the battery out, charged it and put it back, just to make sure it was hot. Tested for spark at a plug with a Thexton spark tester...No spark. Tested for spark at the end of the coil wire...no spark. Checked the voltage on both terminals of the coil...a little over six volts each. I'm guessing I need a new coil. Did I miss anything?

Front distributor and EI and 6 volts and checking spark at coil wire?? Fill in the gaps. Do you have the gutted old coil box with the newer round can coil?? If yes not likely to be the coil but more likely to be a bad ignition switch or other such thing

I checked the switch for continuity when I was looking for loose connections. It has a round can coil and it should have a spark at the wire when the engine turns over.

Hot wire it. If you have spark then you know it is from the coil back o the battery some place if you still do not have spark good chance your EI is bad

ut test light on the side of coil with the black/white wire coming from Pertronix unit.........ign on, cranking, light should blink. If not, then test the Pertronix unit.

Did the test light, it blnked. Ordered a new coil, it came today. Changed the coil and got a good hot spark. Opened the gas valve and it started right up.
