I have a duckbill F-30 that had the steering case cracked and somebody brazed but not leak proof. I have taken the case apart and gouged out the the cracks and mig welded them, looked too be clean cast. Let the welds cool down and never seen or heard a pop. I am wondering if I can put grease in the steering case instead of gear oil just incaseI have a leak or is there some kind of sealer I can use that will hold up to oil. Thanks for your time, Mark.

I repaired an oil pan and a casting and sealed both of them with fuel tank sealer. Blasted them clean and coated them, been 4 years without a leak

Those same gears in a Regular ran dry for years so yeah, I'd put a light coating of grease on them and not worry about it leaking.
