Char Lynn torque motor

Has anyone ever (CAREFULLY) put RTV or anything between the sections of the Char Lynn steering unit? It would have to be a super thin layer but I wonder if it would stop the dripping?

I "rebuilt" mine. Actually can't remember all the parts i put in it but it was o rings and seals. No "sealant" And it doesn't leak a drop.

Some of the older steering units used no seals of any kind. They relied on a lap fit. Usually once that style starts leaking it is time for a new one.

I don't think so. There is no way that case with the step fit could not leak without a seal of some sort. I believe there was a special double bevel or whatever type ring that should be there. PO could not find one so they tried a gunk and that didn't work. So the tractor went down the road that way.
I have afriend that calls on Eaton, sells them a jillion dollars worth of abrasives. I'm going to turn him loose on solving this .
Does anyone have TG that was made within the last 10 years?

This was the style with no seals also - just three o rings. There are LOTS of metal sections there (maybe 8 total). I just noticed it was leaking tonight when I was choring. I am hoping that it just needs tightening, but I have a feeling it is the opposite.

This is the unit that I had to work on and put in some parts from a donor. It was originally a low power unit but I had to put the high power star and center in it as a replacement.

I may try using some Permatex Hi-Tack on it instead of RTV. That is tomorrow nights adventure. I will post back.

I wish I would have not thrown the old one away. I would have posted pictures. There were no seals, just lap fitted. The new ones have seals. The old one I replaced was out of a 400/450 farmall.
