Was out mowing last week, lift started moving slow, checked my hydraulic dipstick and it was low so I added fluid to it mowed for a few hours, lift started moving slow again checked Hyd. fluid it was low so added more fluid. Couldn't see any where it was draining out. Had some one tell me to check level in gear case I did so and it was over filled. I was told that the Hyd. lines that run thru the gear case probably had corroded and needed to be changed? I was told tractor had to be split to fix them, is this a fairly straight forward job that I could do or should I leave it to someone that works on tractors all the time?

he asked the same question in the post below. I took the time to make a full page reply.. for him to re-ask it in another post.

go figure. ;)

The Hundred series tractors have a seal between the three chambers @ transmission, lift and differential. The seal is shot between your lift and the transmission. It is not the hydraulic line. Actually there are two seals between the lift and transmisson. One for the drive line and the other for the PDO shaft. Replace both if you break it apart for fix.

One sump is over full and one is empty. If the seals are shot why doesn't gravity do it's thing and even out the fluid levels?????

Never mind - maybe the hydraulic sump is higher?? - DOH!!!!
