574 PTO Clutch.

Hi guys....I work on Green iron most of the time but currently have a 574 in my shop for a bunch of work including a new PTO clutch. The old clutch was reduced to a burnt/melted blob so laying out the parts in order of removal was not possible. The owner picked up the new parts at our local dealer. I now have 5 disks with internal teeth and 8 plates with external tangs. I would think you normally alternate plate/disk/plate/disk,but this dosn't work out with the quantities I have. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks, Bob

Bob, the service book I have says serial # U1000001 and above has 8 driven plates and 5 driven discs. Start with a clutch disc, then 2 plates, another disc, 2 plates, another disc, 2 plates, disc, last 2 plates then the last disc. Serial # below U1000001 uses 6 plates and 4 discs. Hope that helps.
