MD Injector pump question

I have bled my fuel system according to the manual and the guage is pegged while running on gas. There is no fuel to the injectors so it will obviously not switch over. In doing some research I see that it is common to have a stuck plunger or rack. I have an "A" pump and it has been sitting for a couple of years. Is it practical to free this up with the pump on the tractor? Is it true that I can take the oil fill off the pump and see the movement of the rack? I see multiple posts that the plunger can normally be freed up. Is there any tricks to try before I take the top of the pump apart?

It is certainly possible, use some carb cleaner to loosen the tar like residue on and around the rack, and with tender application of movement (and a blow drier for warmth above normal) it will free up. Jim

I thought those were the symptoms your pump was presenting. Sitting for 5 years is like nothing. That should free up with just a little solvent and no other work needed. Good luck!
