NAA not taking throttle when cold

I have a NAA (12V conversion) that I keep at my hunting camp (about an hour from home). I mow with it about twice a month. I usually just add the gas I'm going to use to keep from leaving in old gas. It always fires right up with a little choke evens out and is ready to go. The last two times I used it, it still fired up, but wouldn't take any throttle. Choke just made it worse. It almost seemed like the governor was pulling back against the throttle extra hard. After 3-5 minutes, it started taking throttle (although under powered at first), but seemed to be ok after a while and started running with normal power. I mowed for about an hour or two with no problem. Seems like I never have much time when I'm over there, but planning to try and diagnose the problem the next time I'm over. The Autolite 437 plugs, wires and points haven't been changed in a couple of years. Just looking for some suggestions on where to start. Due to the location, I really need to take parts with me for replacement (if any need to be replaced).

Check your fuel line to see if it is plugged or restricted. Could be dirt or rust from the bottom of the fuel tank is restricting the flow of fuel to your carb.
Look at the screen in your fuel bowl or take out the plug in the bottom of your carb to see if fuel flows freely when you open the shut off valve. If it does,..it may well be your points or timing advance is off.

I say it's time to clean your sparkplugs, OR install new ones, along with cleaning the points!!
Sounds to me like...contaminated plugs, and/or points!!

Take at least a new set of 437's, and a new set of points with you, to your camp. A new spark tester would help....Obtained at your local Auto parts store!!??? JMHO

Check for GOOD spark @ each!!!
Weather, over long non-use, has a way of contaminating BOTH.!!!

Thanks Gary. I have cleaned the points a time or two since install, but it's been awhile. Need to check the gap while I'm in there I suppose. I'll pickup a new set and some plugs just in case before I head over next time. Thanks

"Choke just made it worse."

When was the last time the air cleaner was cleaned/serviced?
You could try disconnecting the air tube from the carb to see if it
helped at start up. I wouldn't run it that way for long due to dirt.
