I was looking thru some vacation photos. Saw this tractor that sits in the RED ROOSTER resturant in Pigeon Forge, TN.

(quoted from post at 14:22:11 12/12/12) My only comment is that the date on the sign is wrong. It"s definitely not a 1925 model. Other than that it looks nice.

exactly what i was thinking

So what year is it and how do you know? I know nothing about pre '39 tractors.

the two biggest things would be the gov housing and the oil filter. Early 27's and older had a round gov housing, not the square top one like you see. secondly, they regulars didnt get oil filters until mid '29. there are quite a few other small things, but im not going to split hairs that much. If you dont know what the round gov looks like, let me know and ill take a pic of one of mine so you can see it

Lets face it, it may have a 25 serial number but later stuff added in the getting it restored. It's a nice looking restoration. I'm doing a 28 as I get time and I figure I will add am Oil filter even if it isn't "right" I'll have a few F20 parts in there I'm sure.

True, the early Regulars did not have oil filters, however, IHC did sell conversion kits complete with hole drilling directions and guides to install oil filters. Somewhere, I have one of those sheets that you put on the side of the block , center punch through the paper, then drill and tap. They also gave you leather washers to take up the unevenness of the rough casting of the block.

Also might add wrong front steel, wrong seat bracket, wrong
throttle, wrong carb, wrong air cleaner tube, wrong rear steel, and
there's more but this is enough. Not trying to make nasty about the
tractor, but I see this so often where a year is affixed to a tractor
and it's just not so.
