Went to add antifreeze to my M today. Tried to start it, and it always starts.......as long as there is gas in it   . Added a couple of gallons and it fired right up

Violated one of my rules of life.......if you keep the top half full the bottom never runs dry!

Yepper, been there .......keep my gas gauge hanging on a nail in the garage..........24 in piece of 5/16 dowel rod, anything below 2 inches is time to fill up.
Nothing quite as embarassing as hoofing it back with a gas can........THAT's when EVERYONE seems to stop and ask if they can help.

This was just settinghere in the yard. Drove the golf cart (knee saving device) over to where I store the cans at......

Yeah and don't forget Rule #2; Stop a minute, look at what you're about to do, and don't pour the antifreeze where the gas goes. And vicey-versey.

I find my M is greedy. Every time i check, it needs gas.just like my 982 Cub cadet. I guess they are my favorite tractor to use. Kent

Did the same with my 240U yesterday. Hadn't been started for a few weeks and it had 1/2 tank when I used it last. It was sitting where someone could have siphoned it pretty easily, but I think the needle must not be seating in the carb. Has never leaked down before. Shut the valve off when I was done yesterday, guess I need to get in the habit of turning it off. I also have a battery cut-off switch so something doesn't drain the battery.

Oh man did that happen to me this summer. Got my 8N out with almost stale gas....figured I would run the gas out of it and put fresh in. It of course ran out next to the road.......the farthest point from my truck with the fresh gas. LOL!

Yea I think that when really making it work the M was pretty thirsty.
