M hood question

Wondering if i'm supposed to put a washer and nut on the threads sticking up through the hood by the guages? Thanks Kent

Beautiful paint job! Washer with wingnut is correct but most Ms I have seen have those missing including both of mine.

eah, curved to match the shape of the hood. I believe it was only used on tractors with the hook type hood hold-down, not the early ones with the dzus fasteners.
 
Kent - If I had that paint job I"d install a rubber-backed stainless washer, and a stianless wing-nut. Maybe chrome plated too.
 
If I had that paint job I would worry about a battery box and not a washer and wing nut. :lol: It looks good.
 
Thanks. This is my woods tractor, so i'm not worried about a battery box.I bought a battery box for my C and never installed it. Nota very fun place to work. Kent

I've never seen one with a washer and wing nut. I think it would look weird with them installed.

Battery boxes are overrated if you ask me. They give the tractor a clean look but contain all the gases and acids given off by the battery. The result is corroded terminals and a mess in the battery box that you have to clean out and repaint periodically.

Open air allows easy access to the battery and allows it to "breathe."
