I was in tractor supply today and saw that they sell travellers oil, anyone use this? Is it any good? Its $30 for 2 gallons and I just spent $50 on 2 gallons of valvoline.....~Anthony

How "good" TSC oil is, totally depends on the specs your machine requires. Get the oil spec, be it engine, gear or hydraulic / hytran oil, from your operators manual then see if it lists that spec on the TSC jug, Make sure the spec on the jug, meets or exceeds the op manual spec. Do not go by anyone claiming that it meets all specs., you want it to state that it meets the exact spec your machine requires.

I have used it and it seemed fine but I have not used it for enough years to be able to say anything definitive.

I suspect it is made by a major oil company and branded Travellers. A friend of mine used sears oil in his GMC pickup for years and when he decided to restore the body (rust) he decided to rebuild the motor too. It had 175,000 miles on it and used no oil ( don't know why he wanted to rebuild it) so when he got it apart there was only very minimal wear. You pay a lot extra for the name with so called premium oils. IMHO

if it meets the spec and the viscosity you want,
any brand will do.
in today's corporate world, it's probably all
coming out of the same tank somewhere anyway.
IMO, the frequency of oil changes is more important
than brand in any/all oil compartments.

That is about the only hydraulic oil I use. It is in all my tractors and all 4 work ATVs. (Hyd powered soil samplers)
