Super M PTO Engagement Lever

Hello,

I am working working on a Super M and had to remove the PTO shaft and rear housing. When reassembling I noticed that the rivet head on the PTO engagement lever is wore (see photo). I tried to get a replacement from the local IH dealer but they said it was no longer available. Does anyone know if anyone still sells these? Has anyone tried to repair on of these in the past? If so, how did you go about it and where did you get the parts from? Is this a common problem with these types of tractors? Or is there another issue that would have caused this?

Thanks!

It cannot "fall" off once installed. I would be sure to use a washer on the shaft that the actuator lever is attached to. just thick enough to keep the rivet from rubbing on the engagement collar groove.
Just clean up the tiny burrs and shim it out to not rub. Jim

I think you have plenty of rivet left there to hold the piece on with out worry.(Mine looked similar to it last time I had it out.)

Like Jim says, see if you might be able to shim it away SLIGHTLY from the collar it rides in.

If it EVER would come apart,(which I doubt)A hardened, oval head bolt could be substituted for that rivet.
