Blown head gasket on A

Four years back my A started to pump out white smoke, sure enough it was a bad head gasket. Found antifreeze in the crankcase. Replaced the head gasket with an IH/Case gasket. Cleaned off the deck and head real well. I used Permatex copper spray a gasket on the new head gasket, torqued the head to 65 ft/Lb like the repair manual states.

Now the A has started smoking white really bad again, I can't find antifreeze in the oil and the compression checks out okay. It has never overheated as long as I have owned it, don't know if it ever did before I bought it.

Any suggestions to ensure that the next head gasket last longer? Should I have the head checked and milled if needed?
 
The new torque for that is 85ft/lbs so that in it self may help. When I built my BA I used a used head gasket metal one and 6 colts of aluminum paint and it has been just fine. I too did use the 65ft/lbs but since it has not leaked I have left it alone but did re-torque it after I had warmed the engine up
 
without a doubt, have head checked. it is your machine and not mine, but, i believe that i would run the motor, get it warm and torque the bolts up to the new specification.
 
Maybe a cracked sleeve? When I bought my A last fall the previous owner had to replace 2 sleeves because they were cracked. They are wet sleeves.
 
Yep either you blew the head gasket again which happens or you may have a cracked head which would be bad
 
Head should be 80lbs and your smoke could be coming from residue in the muffler running it under some load should burn it out but i would retourque the head.
 
Just found an online article that says copper spray a gasket attacks the coating on metal head gaskets. That is probably what happrned with my A. I will have the head milled just to be sure.
 
Also when you put it back on use a coat of aluminum paint on both sides of the gasket install that tacky. Torque the head down wait say an hour then start and after warm re-torque the head
