Farmall Super MTA Timing

To all:

I have a '54 SMTA. I have recently replaced the head die to several cracks and water in the oil. I am now trying to re-time the tractor. When i was taking off the distributor off of the hydraulic pump, the gear/drive piece fell out of the distrb. I put it back best i could. There is not much adjustment to the distributor to aid the timing. Does anyone have pictures, video, or explanation of how to re-time the tractor?

Brady I have a couple of Hs and Ms but I don't think anything is different on the Super. Get number one piston on top dead center on the compression stroke. Leave the rotor on the distributor and see if it is pointing to the number one post on the cap. If not, rotate the distributor body until they line up. If you cannot turn the body far enough, pull the distributor out and rotate the gear a bit and stick it back in. If you have the vertical Delco Remy distributor, you can turn that easily.
