340 or 350 or??

Should be a 350 unless its a utility. Outside chance it could be a 330 and if so would have to do some checking to answer that. Think they used a different # though. But if its a gas with the governor on the left side that fits a 350. Make sure it has C 175 on block above the oil filter to be sure its not a real late built 300.

I've been under the impression that the 330 used the C123 engine, that it was a 'hybrid' of sorts.300 used the 169/175.350 used the 175?Am I close?

330 used the 135, 340 used the 135, 300 used 169, 350 used 175. The 330 exists because IH was not quite ready to release the 340.

95 % sure that its 350 castings. Think the transmission # is mixed up by the poster. 360553R3 and T/A housing 360486R5 was used on 350 tractors. Some chance of finding the T/A housing on a late 300 also. Good chance of finding the transmission # on a 300. Thats why I told him to check the engine size. 340 had different housings. Never around a 330 except at a show but there's a chance they had the same # on the housings is why I mentioned it if the tractor is a utility. Also why I mentioned the governor side. 330 would be on the right side of engine with open rods to carburetor. 300 and 350 gas is on the left with enclosed tube to carburetor.
Also can run into replacement castings put on some tractors with later numbers.

sorry all i have is uilitily rear end , not much on # hard to make out, was told it was 350 just tryong to find out for sure, thanks all your help

Well if the serial is a 4 digit number the 360486R5 has to high of a suffix to be used on a 4 number 300. Should find date codes on those parts, 2 numbers ending in a letter. 350 with 4 number serial would end with the letter B or C.
