Lifting Power of Touch Control?

I built a jib crane for my C as shown in the pictures. Can anyone tell me the capacity of the lift arm for the plow? I"m guessing the plow weights 300 pounds and it lifts it easily. I"d like to make some estimate of the lifting capacity of this rig.

Keep in mind lifting capacity will be directly correlated to the size of material used as well as how well your jib is engineered. I also read in tractor talk this is your first project. The quality of your welds will also play a major factor.

Any good mechanical engineer can determine the calculated lifting capacity of the rig as long as he knows the operating pressure of the hydraulics, the diameter of the lift piston, the rotation radius of the lift piston, the rotation radius of the lift arm, the rotation radius of the input side of the rear rock shaft, and the rotation radius of the crane. He can also determine if the capacity of the crane is exceeded by the hydraulic lift system. He has to understand that rotation radius is not equal to the length of the rotation arm but the perpendicular distance from the center of the rock shaft to the action rod (IE center of the hydraulic piston). That radius will change for all rotation arms as the lift acts through a rotation cycle. Advanced math (Analytical Geometry) can be used to calculate the maximum and minimum lift capacity or it can be found by graphical means by making the calculation for several points in the lift cycle. This is so much junk for most but some of us like this stuff.

Keep in mind the farther out you go on that jib, the lower the lifting capacity. 300lbs is back at the end of the arm that lifts the plow. Your crane arm is 2-3 times as long as the plow lift arm. That puts it down around 100lbs.

That hy system wasnt designed for something like that start with 100 lbs and go from there your front end will get lite thats why they had wts for the wheels and frame. What pressure does your pump have at the test port with a guage installed. Your seal in the pump mite let hy fluid go into the engine also how good of shape is the rocker system you have lots to check.

It's pretty cool looking.

Couldn't tell you what it'll lift, but I'd say you're certainly asking a lot of the bolt through the rockshaft. What grade bolt?

Whatever you pick up is going to have a bouncy ride - regardless of what the hydraulics can do, a few hundred pounds bouncing up and down on that thing, something's gonna give.

Just curious - what do you WANT to lift with it?
