Guys,
Bob Purington,
The Old Hokie,
JMOR,
JCinKY,
and Soundguy!
You Guys did it!! The 8N 6 volt generator is now charging!
Thanks to all you for building up my knowledge level to be able to fix it.
Took me a while to find the time to get to it today.
Cranked up the engine and let it warm a bit.
I jumped the GROUND and FIELD to each other on the left side.
Then I took a screwdriver and touched the yellow and red terminals on the voltage regulator on the right side.
I heard a snap and saw a spark, pulled the screwdriver away and checked the ammeter.
It was pegged way over to the + side. I ran back over to the left side and pulled the GROUND to FIELD jumper.
The ammeter came back nearer to center but was right of center indicating a charge.
Thank you! I appreciate your knowledge sharing and your patience.
