Krazy Kerosene price at Home Depot

OK, am I missing something here - saw two 2.5 gal containers in a two pack - so 5gal for $43 at home depot....was for a heater. I thought kerosene was inexpensive and was what they used for jet engines - no wonder airline tickets are so expensive if that is the going rate for kerosene!

Wanted a gal or so for cleaning stuff with - I find it works great for cleaning off oil and grease and does not tear up your hands.
Not at that price though.

If you buy it at the pump it is around $4.20 a gal. around here. I have seen it at stores in 5 gal containers for well over $30 so I guesse people will buy it at that.Crazy

It hit $5 at the pump 4 or 5 years ago here. Replaced my kero heater with propane. Can't even give the kerosine heater away...

Can I burn diesel in it?

I burn dyed farm diesel in my torpedo heaters .

The diesel has a stronger odor but works fine in my drafty shop .

Same deal here on my end...picked up a QUART of mineral spirits at lowes to cut some grease and clean paint brushes. Cost me just over $9. I could have gotten 2 GALLONS of diesel at the pump for about $8.08 and done the same thing with more results.

Someones got to be buying it or they wouldn't sell it.

I stopped at a local convenience/gas store for some kerosene about 2 weeks ago. Pump was empty. Owner was not getting anymore until fall. Uses the pump for racing fuel during warm season, motorcycles and drag racers.

I've seen the"Kerosun" brand for some ridiculus prices,I think it has some parfumery added to not smell so bad in a heater.

you want my fuel bill for this month.. check out
wally land they petty cheap... go buy a bandsaw
from home depot.. see if you get replacement blade
to fit them from them.. you can't found a place for
blade for 3.00 each

LOL Local outdoor power equipment place has pre mixed gas for weed wackers and chain saws. [u:3c455def67][b:3c455def67]$7.95 a quart[/b:3c455def67].[/u:3c455def67] Kinda spendy if you ask me.

Kero here at the pump is about 4.35 a gallon.

Well, let's see...kerosene at the pump and kerosene that someone pre packaged for you in a convenient container. Not even a comparison.

How many people handled that pre packaged stuff and how far did it travel to get to that store?

For the pre packaged they're going to charge you what ever people are willing to pay for it. What you're paying for is called convenience.

There is one advantage to this stuff, it has no alcohol. So I use regular stuff all summer long but I put some of that stiff in my the equipment, run it a few minutes and then it is ready for winter storage. It has stable in it and no alcohol. Sure makes spring start ups go easier. (Like it used to be before we started having alcohol in all the gas)
