Just wanted to post a pic of my "51 restoration project. All usable parts have been put through the electrolosis tank & primed.

I read this forum every night, but rarely post or comment, but the wisdom and insight from members has been priceless, so thanks. It will be a year or more to completion, unless I win the lottery. For what she's cost so far, I could have probably bought 10 new ones off the assembly line back in the day. LOL!

Looks like you've made good progress.
Be sure to post some pictures along the way!
Is that a battery disconnect hanging next to the battery?
I'm wondering why it would have been put where it is and
where the lower right cable goes to.

The previous owner had it rigged that way for reasons unknown to me. The tractor was barely running but the price was right so I didn"t ask any questions. I knew I was going to take it back to a 6volt system anyway. The lower leg was not hooked to anything.
 
Looking really good! Doing a nice job can certainly cost a few pennies, but you'll have something to admire for years to come!

Looks like you're headed in the right direction. Most of us have put more money into N series tractors than we will ever get out of them but I never planned on selling any of mine anyway. Only one that I have that might be worth more than I have in it is my 9N # 849 and I'm not planning on selling it. My family can sell it when in gone!! Don't hesitate to ask questions when you run into problems putting it back together we've all run into the same issues. I've done at least a half a dozen of them and I've learned something on every one of them
 
You're right about not getting back what I put in. This one will spend the rest of her life inside an enclosed trailer, traveling to whatever events where we can help raise money for the Shriner's Hospital and/or Wounded Warriors...if I live long enough. LOL! Right now, that's just a dream.
 
Looks like your coming along well. How were the rear rims? Mine were in bad shape, but rebuildable so I swapped with a member here to get some I could use. I too use eletrolysis. Works great. Keep us posted on thr progress.
 

It looks like you got an exceptionally straight one to start with. Besides Dennis Carpenter, George Bradish, Steiner and Stevens, I watch ebay for parts that I know that I will need. Did you replace the tin plate behind the draft sensing spring? It helps keeping water and dust out when the tractor is out. Do you subsribe to the N-News? it is a great resource. I go to Fiat for parts only as a last resort. They appear to only want us to go away.
 
Yeah, that kinda looks like a battery disconnect.
Makes me wonder if maybe the battery was being drained due to some kinda short, and rather than unbolt the ground, he simply put a disconnect into the ground wire. Just a thought.
